don't know if it was discussed before, but what are your thoughts about a high ping kick (for idlers).
Did just play a round a on wake and there was LS-Cobra idling with a ping of 182 and sicktwistedfreak idling with a ping of 132, for example.
Shooting TV was like a diashow for me. I have generally problems with my setup (BF2 on a mac, mobile internet) but it is playable and i'm very thankful for that.
When there a couple high-pingers (over 100) it gets really worth with hitreg and fps. No problem - i just give my best or/and leave.
But idling high-pingers do nothing else then laming the game.

I don't believe high-pingers affect your gameplay man.
Actually, you should try to connect through Ethernet instead of mobile data.

This is probably due to my own countrty - Italy - and its mobile data speeds,
but the thought of gaming through mobile data is hair raising for me.

idlers with high ping can be a problem. as they can actually make the server lag due to the clients requesting more frequent updates from the server than those with less ping. meaning the server will need to use more power on keeping the ones with high ping in contact and not drop them. and than in turn actually make the server shut down, because the server becomes bloated with either late feedback/to many inputs from the ones with high ping.

I guess if the server is reasonably busy or its ruining the gameplay/affecting balance then they should be kicked? If doing no harm I'm guessing needed to keep the server going.
On a side note, finally got fibre to my flat ordered as the city has just been cabled in my area :-)

Yes high ping players do affect the other players. If it's a spike issue it's no biggie, so any measures would have to avoid this surely.
