We invite you to the upcoming Battleracer Event, this year with more exciting news! Qualifying Sessions system revamped according to 2020 Grand Prix feedback, we'll use best out of 3 laps to determine grid positions.

Rules are simple: there will be 6 different races of 6 laps each (no weapons allowed, just racing - if your car gets destroyed you're out of the race - refer to readme.txt inside mod folder for basic rules & tips) - to participate in the race and be eligible for prizes you must register on challonge.com/BF2Battleracer2023

14:30 UTC - Practice     [Private] ~ registered pilots start to gather on the server and practice
15:00 UTC - Briefing     [Private] ~ check-in on challonge.com, get briefed by race director on Discord
15:15 UTC - Grand Prix   [Private]   ~ registered pilots start qualifying and racing on each track

Slots for the race are limited to 16 this year, anybody signing up after that limit will go on a waiting list. In the half hour before the race you must check-in on challonge.com if you are going to race (otherwise others in the waiting list, who've also checked themselves in, will take your slot). There will be prizes for the winners; streamers welcome, can attend the race as spectators/commentators (contact me first).

▪ RACE TRACKS

When the first race starts, only pilots and streamers will be allowed to stay on the server, all the rest of the guests must leave and can watch the Grand Prix via stream (join our Discord and stay tuned to #streams channel). For each race we will do 1 out-lap to familiarize with the track, immediately followed by 3 flying laps to determine the starting grid for the race (best lap wins the pole position and so on).

I've customized the game mode to be able to distinguish qualification races from regular ones, see new parameter in ./battleracer2/settings/racesettings.ini file). *dragon valley will have no out-lap (so only 3 flying laps, one more than 2022's 2 laps), because of its immense length.

Points will be given to racers who finish each race (if you or your car die, you're out) according to the 10–8–6–5–4–3–2–1 formula (1st gets 10, 2nd gets 8 and so forth until 8th racer). If the number of points at the end of the races is the same, there will be a tie breaker determined by winning the Dragon Valley (Sprint) track. Last time it was suggested we award 1 extra point to the fastest lap (provided they also finish the race), but from testing we've seen that it's always either the first or second that gets it, so with this scoring system it would have too much of an impact, over too few pilots. The race tracks will be played in this order:
