Just been banned for red lining - check the recorder - i landed the chopper so angel maker could fly as i had to leave the game urgently, - never red lined anyone in my 15 years of BF2.

Sometimes you have something more important than the game to tend to, not much time to think what's best or not: land the chopper safe, quit the game.

The only problem here was that, whilst the chopper was landed out of harm's way, it just so happened to be in the redline area you can see from the highlight that the moment the chopper touches the ground, the player has already forcibly closed the BF2 app: no more player input is received and the heli starts to tilt.

After a timeout of about 10 seconds from the force-quit, the server drops the connection to the unresponsive client, therefore disconnecting the player. Now that the issue is cleared up, the ban will be lifted.
