So this is how I play BF2 and the way I have done for a long time now. It's simple and effective and makes a few nice changes to your game such as a HD Hud and the opportunity to mute "enemy spotted" spam from the commander/other players on your team plus a few other things.

It's very easy to install and will work with any BF2 installation, whether it's from an original copy of the game or the BF2 you downloaded and installed from Battlelog.co.

1] Add your Battlefield 2 Directory to your anti-virus exclusion list (Several anti-virus software packages will detect the file as a virus but it's not, it's just a false-positive, the file is 100% clean). My BF2 directory is: D:\Games\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 - Yours might be: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 - Just make sure this folder is not being monitored by your anti-virus! Here is mine as an example:

2] Download the ULauncher: http://ulauncher.tk/EN/downloads.html

3] Open the compressed file with a program such as Winrar

4] When prompted, enter the password: bf2

5] Extract ULauncher 2.0.exe to your BF2 directory "...\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"

6] Right click ULauncher 2.0.exe and make a Desktop Shortcut

7] Run ULauncher 2.0.exe / Open your new shortcut (same result obviously)

11] Click Start Game and login/play as you usually do

I'm keeping this brief / simple for now but will probably come back and tidy it up / add more info at some point. Let me know if you have any issues.

The original forum post with more detail/info is here: https://battlelog.co/post.php?id=13286

Cheers,

Are you sure it's not the AntiVirus messing up with it? As soon as I extracted the contents of ULauncher.7z into my Downloads, Avast wiped the .exe putting it into quarantine.

That's why 5tarLine neatly said to whitelist your BF2 folder and extract the archive there; smart one.

elangelvengador just follow the steps and move the ULauncher.7z in the BF2 folder; then do this: http://www.q-chem.com/...ite/doc_for_web/scr_1.jpg.

5tarLine, pal, one question for you: if I follow the steps and enable all of that, would those HD / mute changes stick even though I don't use ULauncher to boot the game? Would they stick?

Did you manage to fix this yet? If not, tell me which Antivirus you have and I can help you add the BF2 folder to exclusions.

Good question, I haven't actually tested this because my Battlelog launcher is outdated so it's a little difficult. I think you need to use the ULauncher for most of these or possibly all of the changes apart from the new menu music basically. Let me know if you find otherwise smiling

Oh, don't be surprised if it takes quite a long time to log in (in-game) after you open BF2, just wait/be patient.

This is the only negative thing I have to say about the ULauncher: it can take quite a long time to login to Battlelog Login Servers in BF2.
