So I've been fixing things here and there that some of you may have noticed but probably not.
Hopefully the site should be feeling a little bit smoother for all. I can only apologise if you have slow loading times. The site is quite video & image heavy and if you are in an area with slow internet connections you may find it a little slow to load pages at times. I can only excuse this by saying technology develops so rapidly and the majority of people are on faster connections now, I hope for those of you with slower speeds that you will be upgraded at some point! Often it takes a bit of research to realise what is actually available, i'll give an example:
I was pretty pissed off to find out that in Central London the best speeds I could get in my area were 10Mbit/s which would equate to around 1MBps download/upload speed and amongst the worst 3 areas for internet speed in the whole of England! After researching online I found a company called Hyperoptic who were looking into installing fibre optic internet across parts of the UK (starting with London) and fortunately my area was one of them! On their website, they showed a map of the UK with pin-points on certain locations where you could register interest in them installing the infrastructure for high-speed internet, so of course I did. Luckily, many others in my area had also registered their interest and within a couple of months I was sat there with a 100/100Mbit fibre optic line which has worked flawlessly ever since. I can download a 4K movie in about 30 minutes and a 1080p in under 10. I could even upgrade to 1 Gbit/s for just a little more money p/month. So, the point of that long-winded story is, if you are unhappy with your internet connection, do some research (best online) and find out what you could have instead.
Since we have had so many new Soldiers registering recently, it would be great to hear more feedback on what people like / don't like or any issues you are having regarding the website.

1. Say I want to type a text in Courier New_1, or I want to select a word of my post and make it red_1.
In both cases I can interact with the COLOR / FONT dropdown lists in the BBCode options; so far, so good.
But, the issue kicks in when I want to either start a new sentence in Courier New_2, or I want to mark another part of the text in red_2. In fact, the option you select in the dropdown list keeps being marked, and you can't choose it again.
In other words, if I select the string "red_1", click on "COLOR" and then click on "red", consequently I can't perform the same actions with the string "red_2". I'd have to either select a different color, or reset the dropdown list to the "COLOR" (default) option, but with the latter, the {color=0}{/color} BBCode tags are generated ...
Maybe there's another way to go about these dropdown lists?
My idea is to reset the list element to the default one, everytime you select something from the list. This way I'd be able to mark something "red" againg, or I would be able to create another Courirer New piece of text.
The other idea is to generate the BBCode tags everytime I click on an item of the dropdown list, even if it is currently already selected.
2. The "Auto Resize" option for pictures breaks the BBCode; specifically, if I try to embed the IMG into URL tags - and the picture is too big - clicking the picture will redirect me to the fullsize picture, and not to the embedded URL behind it.
3. You should mention that the limit for the signature is 345 characters.
EDIT: I'm afraid that's not the case ... There may be a bug with the signature code which prevents the whole signature to be displayed.

Writing this down otherwise I will forget yet again:
do you think it's possible to add the map name, to the webpage that lists the demo files?
Much like in the battlelog listing: https://battlerecorder.bf2.us/#/list.
I believe in-game there's also the map name as well; so do you believe it can be done on the webpage?
Cheers,

1. I agree and as I believe I already told you was aware of this. You can work around it by selecting 'nothing' i.e. the drop-down menu title and then going back to it. If it would reset after or allow multiple usage/clicks that would be useful, not urgent at the moment though.
2. Ok, I guess this will need to be looked at. Assuming this is after you have wrapped the image that is too large in the URL tags properly?
3. I haven't had any issues with the signatures, you will need to investigate further/let me know on that one.
Regarding the webpage that lists the demo files, obviously that needs to be looked at soon and downloading the demo files through the site needs to be more accessible as well. I spoke to Mike & Spencer when they released their demo portal for Battlelog, which I must say, is really nicely done. I asked them how they got the map-name from the demo file, apparently it can be extracted from the demo file itself but I have no idea how they do it. Feel free to ask them. What I will do which is a lot easier is have a separate listing/page for each server where you can easily see from which server/map the demos came from.
Currently it's:
Wake Island - http://www.lost-soldiers.org/demos/1
Strike at Karkand - http://www.lost-soldiers.org/demos/2
Gulf Of Oman - http://www.lost-soldiers.org/demos/3
Dalian Plant - http://www.lost-soldiers.org/demos/4
Operation Blue Pearl - http://www.lost-soldiers.org/demos/5
However, we currently have too many demo files in the folders for you to see in your browser which is why they each need a demo-portal type page.
Cheers,

Just checking, not every forum has the same methods. I'm sure you know how to do it.

Hello once again, I've discovered minor bugs within the Gallery:
• If you give a "Thank" to a comment, the comment shrinks in size (horizontally):
http://www.lost-soldie...mentspage-1/sorttype-ASC/
• If you edit a comment, you get redirected to the wrong page because '&' in the URL remains '&':
Code:
http://www.lost-soldiers.org/index.php?site=gallery&picID=68
( ;P gets picked as a smiley )

Thanks for investigating. I was aware there were still some errors in the gallery and other parts of the site but I couldn't remember what exactly.
Another thing added to the to-do list.

While polishing the PunkBuster guide post, I've find out some other minor quirks that I will write for reference:
These codes result in minor fuckups:
Code:
[url=http://www.pbbans.com/forums/files/pbsetup-for-legacy-games-get429.html][size=2][font=courier new]pbsetup+legacy.rar[/font][/size] 3.35 MB[/url]
3.35 MB
Code:
[url=http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=8247&page=2#p27994]Editing the [size=2][font=courier new]pbgame.htm[/font][/size] file[/url]
Editing the [f...me.htm file
Apparently the "FONT" tag causes the issue:
Changing "Courier" instead of "Courier new":
...rar 3.35 MB
Without font tag:
pbsetup+legacy.rar 3.35 MB
Without font nor size tags:
pbsetup+legacy.rar 3.35 MB
Finally, this:
