Hello everyone, I invite you all to share your opinion on this matter.

I believe that as of now, having 100 Players as the maximun number is counterproductive, in the sense that this way "it's easier to see the glass half empty rather than half filled".

In other words, I have the feeling that more Players would theoretically join the fight, if they'd see "4/16" instead of "4/100". I prefer less crowded Servers too, that's true; but I am addressing this to a more human and psychological level.

PLAYERS, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?!
(Admins are Players as well amused ).

No I don't think there is any issue with the 100 player servers. It's something nice and unique which most other servers don't have and it's a great incentive to join as 50 vs 50 on Karkand would be pretty fantastic.

We need to bring people here to join the community that actually play BF2 and play on our servers and have an interest in actually being part of what is going on here. That will help populate the servers.

Anyways, your Servers can currently hold onto 500 Players alone; as the situation stands, it would be a milestone to fill one of them completely, ain't I right?

So, my point is: instead of going uber high right off the bat (with a lot of potential energy, but low kinetic energy: the Servers don't get filled) with 100 Players, let's start again from a lower value: 32. (I'd even pick 16 but I guess it's too low for you, but it may prove my point even more).

In that way, I believe that it'd be easier for Lost Soldiers' Servers to aquire more kinetic energy (i.e. more Players); so, with low potential energy and increasing kinetic energy, we can then bump the Servers to 64 when it will be needed by the lack of potential energy of the Server (i.e. constant 32/32 situations: need more room for the other Players).

As of now, the 100 slots are wasted IMHO. True, we need to scout for true Players, but my point of view is that 100 is "scary" and unusual; and most importantly it's hard to fill a 100 Server when you're not green and not pinned. unhappy

EDIT: Reading my post again, I understand that my theory would work if all the Players had my attitude and Server preferences. :/

Yes mate I did, I felt it was missing.

Yes it would be a huge milestone. Servers seem to be really quiet these past few weeks. Before the Bot-Ban and Battlelog Official servers we were doing a lot better. #3 Gulf Of Oman was regularly getting 30-40 players without any of us needing to help get it going. Other servers were busier too.

I appreciate your opinion but this is BF2 not Science. I guess you've been studying for a Physics exam recently? Laugh

I don't think 100 slots is scary, like I said before we just need to find better Lost-Soldiers who really want to help populate our servers on a regular basis.

In addition to that I put a lot of effort/hours into hacking apart the BF2CC Daemon EXE and modifying the code to allow 100 Player Servers!

I have given this some thought and although I don't necessarily agree that seeing 100 slots on a server is psychologically off-putting, there is no reason for us to run 100 slot servers until we have a 64 slot server full. I still believe being different and standing out from the crowd is better and the option for a huge battle, particularly on an infantry map is extremely appealing. Unfortunately we've been nowhere close to this huge battle yet and I would need to hack the Linux BF2CC again like I did with the Windows for it to boot with 100 slots so we will go with 64 for the mean time.

Well yeah, I didn't mean to say it's because we removed the cap; I could not be harsed to creaate a new topic so I used the one which would fit the most (in my opinion). Unfortunately though, I have to report some sad news about this, in another thread . . .

What I wanted to add to this thread though, is that if the Server has a 100 Players cap, the Players with an index > than 64 will not have their tags be displayed, and it may cause major problems within the Server (namely because you don't know if the untagged soldier model in front of you is a friend or a foe).
