I just get a black screen for a second and then it`s back to desktop. I have never had the game on my computer before. I downloaded it today from the military base. Thanks in advance

First step is to try running the game in safe mode, so an error is generated.
Open the bf2hub client, click the launcher tab. Put a check in safe mode/window mode.
In the windowed mode- position and size- use 800 as width and 600 as height.
Click the yellow Play battlefield 2 button on the bf2hub client.
You should now receive an error to work with.
Your most likely issue is the monitor doesn't have the resolution of 800x600 available. Evident from an error of Unknown DynamicOption value 800x600
