Hey guys, I just installed the game after extracting all the files. I got the CD-Key. Now when I launch BF2, the screen goes black like its about to launch, but ends up just closing the application (no error message is given, the app just shuts down). I thought maybe its because I have a windows 11 OS and the game is probably not compatible it. So i extract the files on one of my windows 7 virtual machines, but the same problem happened. I read the description that came with the Zipped file and followed all the instructions. Has anyone else had this problem before? If someone can guide me thatd be great. Last time i played this game was about 15 years ago and im ready to get back into it !

try to start the game in windowed mode.
You can do this in the BF2Hub laucher Tab.
Then you maybe get an errorcode

Run the game in windowed mode to get the error. if the error states "Unknown DynamicOption value 800x600" it is as above shows/solves
(Quick Easy= right click on desktop, choose display settings. Scroll on right side until reach resolution change choices. Click the arrow next to chosen resolution. If no 800x600 is shown in resolution choices and only higher are available, follow link above)

I just made a discord account, I'm going to do my research. If you guys got a clue on what's happening that'd be great. Rotblut and PvtStandOn you guys are the REAL GOAT's . Microsoft helpdesk don't even answer that fast looool.

install direct x again and install new gfx drivers.
also have a look on your refresh rate, maybe is set on 120Hz and not on 60Hz

I second the directx install. You may have not allowed it to install, thinking it wasn't needed. Even with newer directx, you still need to install directx 9. It can be found inside the files downloaded from this site. Go into the Battlefield 2 Complete Collection folder. Inside you shall find a redist folder, then one labeled directx. go into it and double click DXSETUP.exe
After it installs, try again to play

Don't just DoubleClick DXSETUP. Right click it, choose to run as admin instead
