It's been many years since I played BF2 and I thought I'd try it again as it was always one of my favourite games. So I installed, setup and got it working finally thanks to your great instructions.
However, when i try to join a game now I get the message I have been banned. Is this a technical issue or an old ban from way back? If the latter, then I can only promise that the years that have passed have made me a mellower kinder guy.

Please hold whilst I investigate this for you. It sounds like you may be getting incorrectly kicked.

Can you confirm that you are attempting to connect to one of our 5 Lost-Soldiers Servers or are you trying to connect to something different? If indeed one of ours, do you recall being banned from our servers before?

Do you have Discord? If so please join our Discord server and DM me, you'll find me as: ¯\_/^v^\_/¯#7960 (use the search at the top right if I'm not online and paste that).

Update, looks like you are trying to connect with a VPN. That's not possible, use your residential connection.

Ha- it was the VPN. If it's that easy to detect then I guess Netflix won't be fooled either. Thanks for helping with this.

Netflix are too big to care and just want your money. They have to put those geographic blockades in place for legal reasons but it's not their fault if someone uses a VPN to avoid it so I'm sure you can continue just fine for the time being until perhaps one day, they eventually get in trouble for it
