We were hanging out on the Server, 4 or 5 Players, when suddenly I got kicked out: "Connection to the Server has been lost", or something on those lines. Upon rejoining, the Server was empty; elangelavengador inferred it could've been an daily autorestart command being issued.

Fact is, when I re-joined the Server, I kept having the following problem with the game.
I tried to join the Server a third time but it was the same; I will have to try cleaning the Shaders' cache, see if it goes away.

On another note, why did I see the message in Spanish here, instead of English?

I have moved this as I don't think it's specific to the Gulf Of Oman server, more of a general BF2 issue.

Regarding lost connections, there are so many possible causes... Since it has only started happening recently I don't think it's on our end, I think it's Battlelog related.
Possible causes:
1) Battlelog restarting services / network issues causing packet loss.
2) Packet loss due to dedicated server host (NFOServers) having network issues or being attacked. Customers which share our network have been attacked quite a lot recently.
3) Internet Infrastructure on a larger scale. Issues somewhere between the networks that connect your home PC in Italy to the server in Frankfurt, Germany. (If all players got disconnected at the same time this is unlikely, then it's more likely to be #1 or #2)

Not sure exactly what the shaders issue is. However, if it's the graphics looking shit after you got lost connection and had to rejoin this has happened to me before. It only happened when I got kicked completely back to the BF2 Main Login Screen. At that point you can just restart your game to fix it. There are a lot of strange things that happen with these shaders, will explain more another time. It will be a good idea to delete that folder with the long name of letters & numbers inside your "cache" folder in My Documents. I actually have a shortcut batch file on my desktop which I double click to delete the cache because I need to do it every time I play BF2 (for a slightly different reason).

Finally, the "Dead" in Spanish/French or w/e language has always been like that in BF2. It's because he has installed BF2 in Spanish.

Cheers,

smile

You bet! It's just that I told to elangelavengador that I would post it there, so he could check the pictures. Don't worry though; I've sent him a private message as well, so he will be able to find the thread. smiling

The problem with those pictures is that there is no fog, basically; no fade between what you can see and what you can't see. Before the autorestart or whatever that was, I had the regular fade / fog; after joining again, I had that ugly line. unhappy

So, elangelavengador thought it was an autorestart command; he told me that it is common that a Server gets autorestarted once in a day (or maybe once a week?), and so that it could've been that. At first I thought that somebody actually restarted the Server (as the Tickets were reset too).

So, is that the case for your Servers? Is there an autorestart feature kicking at some point? amused

Do you mean he has either tweaked the registry keys or installed a Spanish DVD version of the game? But why do I have to see that as well!? Excited ahah I don't get it; I suppose this is the French version then:

That explains it! tongue
I guessed that the game sent a "code", but instead it would seem it sends just a regular text message, in the language of your BF2 installation. amused DEAD, MORT, MUERTO, MORTO ...

I'm trying to workout what the problem is. Do you mean your graphics going shitty / low quality?

This happens to me if I get disconnected back to the BF2 Login Screen. For example when the Login Server crashes or something similar. I have to reboot my game and like I always do and have told you before I have a shortcut batch file on my desktop to delete the cache each time before I start BF2. Then I HAVE to join Gulf of Oman first to get the right shaders in my cache to fix graphics issues on other maps like I explained to you before. Weird right?

So yeah I tend to leave the BF2 Application open for long spells of time now and just alt + tab because each time I close it I need to repeat the process. It takes longer to connect for the first time because of the optimising shaders every time but after that's done I can join our servers in 6-7 seconds from clicking connect to spawning in.

No, the problem is that there isn't the fog anymore! Just a line on the horizon without fade! amused
This needs testing on my part; I can't bitch about stuff that I am not fully aware of, but it looks like I might get some use outta that batch script of yours. smile

Yes, I would consider that part of the shitty graphics problem Laugh I get the same thing with the horizon line when the graphics get turned to shit quality.

I wonder if it's to do with the default configuration files. Maybe these are being loaded when I get booted back to login screen... Although I thought I had copied over these with my normal settings.
