Well hello there Mr. Senior Aircraftman (Technician)!!! Laugh

"It looks like the graphics cards update, solved everything."
What was your problem to begin with after all? You know this thread has grown quite a bit. tongue
...
Only that the game would boot just once from the Revive Launcher, and then not anymore and you'd have to reinstall it?

Lol,Senior nerd you mean,
Game started first time ,( remember I was on my GAMES machine then) but died, maybe cos I was not setting it up right,so from then on I just kept trying. but of course, I never did update the graphics. So it was never going to work,
Then I went over to my DAILY machine, (xp), and fitted a spare Hard drive I had, and loaded a new win 7 disc that I had bought ready to install when xp got to be a problem
Of course I loaded up all the start up discs, and a 2year old graphics card download.,Therein lay the problem, didn't occur to me to update it again.
so after many attempts I took my GAMES machine to my sons house, and he got it working after a fashion, with a very involved start up procedure.,
and I have been playing on that since.
but After going back to my DAILY machine, i had read somewhere that a guiy had updated the graphics and it worked, so once again, I rebooted everything, updated graphice, loaded up bf2, and it worked first time, and still does, Its not the machine I want to use to play on, but I am loathe to play around with the GAMES machine , in case I ruin my sons work lol.
Anyway, I can play now, and my thanks to you , 5tar, and all who gave me advice,I appreciate it very much

You're welcome!! Well by the looks of it, it looks like you're the real nerd here! Fitting spare Hard Drivers and installing new O.S.?? That's something gamers don't usually do; apart from when they're desperate to play. Laugh Am I right?? tongue

The weird thing here is that your game actually loaded up just fine the first time! If your card could not accept it, it shouldn't have let you play ... Alas, that is BF2! Perhaps it has something to do with integrated cards vs third party cards, the initial shaders optimization and so forth ...

Your gaming machine is a laptop, right?
You don't have the link to that post where the guy suggested to update the Graphic Drivers anymore, do you? smiling

Yea , im not too good with the techy stuff , i am after all 76 years old, and come from a time of thermionic valves, before transistors even.In 1949, we had the first tv in our street.
Black and white, with a 9inch ( 228mm ) square screen. Our computer in those days was a thing called a slide rule.

MY PC's
Daily machine :-

Win 7 32 bit
AMD Phenom(tm)II x2 550 processor 3.10Ghz
4.00 GB usable memory
AMD Radeon HD5750 Graphics
Win 7 32 bit
AMD Phenom(tm)II x2 550 processor 3.10Ghz
4.00 GB usable memory

No, dont have lap top, just two desktops. plus a tab 2

Games machine is :-
WINDOWS 7 64 BIT HOME PREMIUM
Intel Core i5 2500k (3.3Ghz ) 6MB cache
Asus P8H61-M Motherboard
8 gig 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
ATI RADEON HD 6950 2GB PCI-E GRAPHICS CARD
SATA DUAL LAYER REWRITER
SAMSUNG 500 H/DRIVE

This is the complicated way I have to log into bf2 , After going thrrough all this palaver. I have to open up revive, update , redo cd key , and then it logs me in, I have to go through all this every time I want to play bf2, or if it crashes.
Its the only way we managed to get it to work in Windows 7 64 bit, ( my games machine), my other machine Win 7 32 bit, It loaded fine in the normal way.
I have to delete stuff in file 1. copy and paste stuff from file 2 into file 1, then delete 001 and 002 in file 3, and copy and paste 001 and 002 from file 4 back into file 3.

It would be interesting to know where these folders actually point; cause from the screenie it looks like they're 4 different folders on your Desktop, but I could be wrong. I would die to tap into your PC and burn everything down BF2-related and build it back up but looking back at this whole thread of yours I'm afraid I would do worse. Laugh

All problems can be solved by creating yourself a good favourites list and using the old/original ULauncher, it's what i do and i also get the nice HD HUD and Menus etc. smiling
