My Son (,i.t. Man) , hsa gone into the problems I have, tried everything, and the only way we can get into the game now is using his method,
This is what he found :-

when you have it working successfully the first time when using the Revive launcher, as soon as you have finished and quit the game and launcher, you then cannot run bf2 anymore (even if you try running the bf2.exe manually from the program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder).

No error message, just nothing happens.

The only way we can get round this is :

1) REBOOT (as some file or other is permanently locked - we know this due to the fact that we try and manually delete the entire program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder and it says 'access denied'

2) delete the entire contents of the program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder
3) delete the user profiles 001 and 002 (leaving Default folder and Global.con file alone)
4) Copy a backup of the entire bf2 folder back into program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder
5) Copy a backup of the 001 and 002 profiles back into the profile folder
6) Go into the Revice Launcher
7) 'Update Now' button
cool Re-apply the cd key
9) 'Play Now' button

then this works again.

To sum up , the launcher (or the BF2 application) works through the launcher once, then upon exiting the game and launcher the game is unplayable/won't run until the entire copy and paste process above is performed.

Can only presume that the leaving of the launcher is causing a file to remain that blocks re-running of bf2, hence the copy and paste exercise.

Sounds like the HD Launcher might be good for you.

Have you tried to ask on Revive forum? They'll help you for sure.

I had something similiar - the game couldn't be started after pressing the play button, also no message. I always had to cancel the process through the task manager.

5tarLine means you should attempt to use this Launcher instead, after you perform a clean install of BF2: http://www.lost-soldie...=forum_topic&topic=62. It seems though, that you keep using the Revive Launcher when I explicitly suggest you not to use it for a period of time, to test if running the game directly everytime solves your issue. Laugh

The Launcher is not compulsory for the moment, so why do you keep using it if - from your description - it looks like that's the software which is causing you the issue? One of my first suggestions was to try to run the game directly, forgetting about the Revive Launcher entirely (for the moment).

Let us know if you find anything else, if you're willing to try to boot the game directly, and if you're going to try the Universal Launcher (and so how it goes). smiling Regards,

Ok gentlemen, I thanks you all for your help,
Update.
Re installed win 7 32 bit on old pc, Installed my paid for disc of bf2, and it did not work, decided to update graphics drivers and hey presto bf2 worked !.
installed revive again, and it worked, but got a message saying not to run as admin, and it would change it for me, so said ok, and the game worked online,
It said i needed to make the changes in bf2 exe, which i did, and everything works fine even the old bf2 icon on desk top. So, alls good now, whoopee,

It looks like the graphics cards update, solved everything.

We probably should have started this by saying make sure absolutely everything is up to date. Laugh Although, considering you reinstalled Windows, perhaps you already had the latest graphics drivers before you did so?

Either way, I'm delighted that you have solved your problems and can play with no more troubles (hopefully). I was worried when you began talking about throwing in the towel but you have shown great patience and tenacity to fix this. When it comes to Tech, unless it's a hardware fault, everything is potentially fixable by yours truly (providing the software isn't totally locked down). This is what I always remember when I run into trouble but this doesn't happen very often for me these days... Normally I'm trying to stay patient fixing other people's tech troubles.
