As for a program there are some free programs you can use them like [smart pixel] but the free version contain watermarks on every screen shot you will take unfortunately

In the game bar you also now have the option of putting your pc in "game mode" which pauses or turns off resource hungry background shit. (says microsoft)

For those who have not spotted this yet, with the "creators update"in win 10 came the game bar (start and then the cog icon) in this you now have the possibility to make screenshots with ctrl + alt + print which are sent to your "videos" folder so you no longer have to open them with paint or such.
Game videos too.

Print + Paint is not going to work, unless you're in Windowed Mode I think.
Try to bind the key in the controls to something else (I use backspace),
and you should see that folder fill with screenshots!!!

Are you sure that PrntScrn is the button you have binded in your game Controls, to the screenshot command? Cause, I can press PrntScrn too and it will save the screen, but if I paste it on Paint, it pastes a black image just like you say.
So, the default screenshot button for BF2 should be PrntScrn, but when you press it you should be able to find your screenshots here, in this default folder: C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Battlefield 2\Screenshots. Do you see any pictures there? Are you able to bind the screenshot action to a different key maybe, like Backspace?

I get black screenshots when I use the print-button...don't know why...it worked before the battlelog era. So being honest I have no button at the moment, using my smartphone for some pics

I use the built-in screenshot feature of the game, really; othewise, Bandicam if I have it running, although I usually use it to record the gameplay. Staff Officer S_h_a_r_k_93

Nvidia Shadowplay, but I don't usually screenshot my game. Just record it.
