So glad to have found you.

Like you I am a fellow BF2 tragic. I was out of gaming for a long time. BF2 was always THE GAME. I thought my chance to play again was over.

But then I found your site!

I played BF2 very regularly in the late 2000's - was a member, and admin, of the *=IMA=* International Mobilized Army Clan - if any of you recall it. We ran the top ranked 24/7 Infantry Only server in the world for about 7yrs.

Anyhows! I now use a macbook pro which cant run this game. But having found you have active servers I will invest in a new mini-cube that can just run BF2 so I can relive the thrills.

Could any of you point me out how I get the game software, updates, etc so I can join you guys in the field and get some revives?

Hello admiralspadge and welcome to our Community.

You can play on Mac either using a virtual machine (but I wouldn't recommend it) or with bootcamp, without having to actually purchase new hardware; unfortunately the game can be installed and played on Macintosh just fine with our instructions but only in Singleplayer mode, online will work only on Linux and Windows (BF2Hub is a software for Windows).

Regarding your account recovery, that is also explained at the end of the installation, but the caveat is that you must've backed it up to BF2Hub before the GameSpy shut down back in 2014, you can read more about recovery in this recent topic: lost my account password

Out of curiosity - does in game VOIP still function?

also...I'm in Sydney Australia. So hello to my fellow Aussies.

Are you sure then? Not going to give bootcamp a chance? The game should run pretty good on Macintosh hardware running Windows on it not extra physical space either. Yes VOIP still works as in the past, I'd say everything works as with GameSpy BUT getting 4* General ... that's something that bugged ... some of the higher-ups here (stats freaks ). Australia uh? Well not a very lucky position for the ping, but there should still be an Australian Community with a server and a bunch of players, otherwise you are off to murica!!

If I read your post correctly - On Mac I can bootcamp BUT will only be able to play SINGLEPLAYER.

So to play multiplayer - need a little windows box.

Am I reading you right?

Also, ping was never good, but since our clan was in the USA, i always played US servers. Made up for the ping a bit by leaning hard into squad play. Teamwork wins every time.

If you load the game solely on mac, you can only play singleplay.
If you load windows through bootcamp, or a virtual machine, you can play both single and multi.
Bootcamp is the preferred method.
