How about another Heat of Battle Promotional Video? smiling

Also I have an idea. Do y'all play online by BF2Hub or by Gameranger?

Since setting up a dedicated server for Heat of Battle causes crashes, playing Heat of Battle by Gameranger ought to be an excellent option since Gameranger makes use of the Local Server Functions of their supported games.

Hey Noddynod443,

we are all playing through BF2Hub and, albeit your idea works in theory, we are yet to know if that works as expected, correct? In any case, it will be hard already to have players install the mod itself - and in the case of Heat of Battle it appears quite complicated - so I don't exactly think that installing additional software (GameRanger) is a good idea when hosting a dedicated event. https://i.imgur.com/li8jmLw.png

Just my two cents,

Yes I agree that installing Heat of Battle is quite complicated. I believe a solution to that problem would be to have someone upload the entire Heat of Battle mod folder (all "pre-put together") to his/her Google Drive then share a download link to all players.

I can do this if requested.

In regards to the dedicated server problem, the problem could all be caused by my inexperience in setting that up. If one of y'all who are experienced with doing that would want to try, It would mostly have better results. smiling

All I can say is that my server and client files had no differences between them, because I have the same identical Heat of Battle mod folder in each computer.

"Apparently the most likely scenario (other than a problem within the mod itself) is that the server files on the dedicated internet server do not match the ones on the client that is connecting to the server.

So I ask, since I cannot find a re-pack for the server files only, where did you obtain the server files for this mod? Did you create them yourself out of the client files that you have?"

I do not understand the idea that I have to "obtain" or "create" server files. (See proves that I am very inexperience) I just used the default umm BF2 Dedicated Server Launcher .exe found in the BF2 folder. Perhaps using this method is incorrect/what is causing the problem.
Is the proper mention supposed to be by using BF2 Shortcut +Commands such as "+dedicated 1"?

Thanks,

No I guess the proper way is to install an actual Battlefield 2 server first. tongue We can try to test it but the client instalation is a bit complex, your idea wouldn't be too bad regarding re-packing it, but I am not totally sure if that would work out correctly.

Perhaps Pegasus has managed to install and try the mod Heat of Battle in the end and can compare it to the others in the "list"? smile

hello, guys,
for a few days, I followed your conversation, here: it seems to me that heat of battle is a good compromise, between what battlefield 2 vanilla is and what a majority of player could accept as changes: I am afraid that mods too far from fundamentals, repels many players; personally, mod zombies seems too much limited in terms of gameplay, while the dogfight will certainly not suit everyone; even if I regret it ...! Download and install heat of battle is very accessible to everyone, I think: now, place it on one of our servers, I have a as doubt: but I do not know much about it !another solution, if you can not: use a mod map: ie a map that will work on a Bf2 server but contains a set of additions, usually only encountered as a mod! as just an idéa.....smile

Hey Cataly!! Happy to see you here! What do you mean with a modified map?

About your dogfighting map don't worry, we already have the dogfight tournament to battle with the hardcore pros; the event that I wanted to host on your custom map was an air battle opened to any Battlefield 2 player that likes teamwork and to enjoy playing the game together, so not necessarily good pilots or top dogfighters like the ones that are expected to join the dogfight tournament.

Regarding Project Zombie Strike Redux Betamaxx has replied but he didn't fully answer my question. He confirms, though, that Project Zombie Strike 2014 does not (and will not) support online gameplay; and regarding Redux they will probably release it later in 2020: I will ask again in the future, if they plan to support online for maybe for Project Zombie Strike Redux.

So you guys really want to try Heat of Battle it seems; ok, I will try to get a server going so we can see if we also have the same error that Noddynod443 stumbled on when attempting to self-host a dedicated server from his own Computer (or so I understood).

Kind regards and happy modding!

ok, i answer to your "quick"question Sharky smile

In a map, provided for mod Bf2, whether custom or vanilla, it is always possible to add weapons, vehicles, effects, which are not in the original game: there is, of course, limits, but we can improve the rendering, sound and visual, so as not to need a real mod: advantages: a simple map to install in bf2 mod, even if quite heavy, in terms of memory!

It happens that I did some tests on one of my maps; and, even if the work is only sketched out,, I could clean it a little, and offer it to you, as a test ... only if, of course, we have to abandon the idea of hosting a mod......hope not, anyway
