Well, i was just playing BF2 on the Oman server when i got a BSOD, after rebooting i imediatley got the message that a java update was ready to be installed, i surmise that this was responsible in some way for the crash.
Now the wierd bit, - the icon for the BF2 launcher is gone, and only that one, everything else on my desktop is unchanged but there is a space where BF2 launcher icon used to be.
No probs i thought, i'll just start the launcher exe from the BF2 folder.............also gone.
hmmmmm.......................

Very strange occurrence indeed McSlaine.
Let us know if you experience further problems.

To analyze the bluescreen I suggest the freeware bluescreen viewer.
That way I suppose you'll be sure that it is Java; or you will find what actually caused the BSOD.

If you are on win 7 this may help if it happens again .Never tried it myself though.Last resort i think.

You can tap rapidly on the F8 key when the System starts up and select the repair your computer. Go to step 5 if this works.

or

If you have Startup Repair preinstalled on the system:
Remove any CDs, DVDs or USBs from the system.
Restart your computer.
Press and hold F8 as your computer boots, but before the Windows 7 logo appears.
At the Advanced Boot Options screen, select Repair your computer using the arrow keys and hit Enter.
