From the link below please read through the following points
https://bl2142.co/post.php?id=22034&page=0

There's a few possibilities.
1. Anti virus. Use gaming mode, disable, turn off active protection. If the game works, add battlefield 2 game folder to it's whitelist/ exceptions list.
2. Directx 9. This is a must to install on windows. Newer directx 10,11,12 doesn't contain the directx 9 files the game needs to run. http://battlelog.co/wiki.php?article=14
3. Resolution issues. Try using windowed mode and use 800x600 resolution. This is the games default resolution. If you get an error using this resolution you have a resolution issue. You'll need to manually change your files. http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=9744#p25927
4. Profile mismatch from a previous install. Open the launcher, click it's settings tab. In order, click apply cd key, reset profile, reset config. The launcher will log you out. Log back in, when game recognizes where game is installed click finish setup. Once the launcher is open again, click settings tab and put a check back into enable widescreen support. (Note if 3. Resolution issues pertained to you, you'll need to do those settings again)

Does the revive bf2 game download contain direct x 9?

30.11.2016, 15:24 - MitchS66 - Junior Technician - 157 Posts
Please answer these questions.

Which operating system do you use?
How have you installed BF2 (CD/Battlelog)?
___________________________________________________________

If you have installed BF2 using the original CD then please visit this link http://battlelog.co/downloads.php#tools, select 'Tools and Patches' and download the appropriate files which you require.

Or

If you have used a CD to install BF2 you could uninstall the game entirely and reinstall from the battlelog website: http://battlelog.co/downloads.php#client

here is my p/c spec
WINDOWS 7 64 BIT HOME PREMIUM
Intel Core i5 2500k (3.3Ghz ) 6MB cache
Asus P8H61-M Motherboard
8 gig 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
ATI RADEON HD 6950 2GB PCI-E GRAPHICS CARD

I Have uninstalled all the disc stuff, and down loaded the lot from revive, it let me into game but with a half size window, got in about three times in quick succession.
Took the profile 001 out of the profiles in my docs, and replaced them with mine, and now it wont fire up again, reversed the profiles again, and still wont fire up.

So what happens when you click 'Play Now'?

Does the game start up, load into a server and then crash?
Does it literally do nothing?

Also, when you installed the game via CD, did you download any patches for it via the battlelog website?
If you didn't please try these:
1.41 Patch: https://drive.google.c...3rircTU81UUh1U3VQWWM/view

Delete these from My Documents and allow it to create new Profiles for you. Then carefully replace some of the files with your settings/controls one by one. Check inside the files to ensure you are not replacing something you don't want to that has been created for you by opening the game / logging in.

For example, keep the new Global.con and Profile.con - don't overwrite these with old files.

Josty, go into your game directory and run the file titled 'BF2.exe'. This should open the game and then type your log-in details to connect.

Just delete everything inside of My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles

Apart from if you have a folder called default, keep that.

It will create fresh ones for you.

You might also want to delete the folder inside: My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache - It should be a long string of numbers/letters.

Okay so first of all MitchS66, please take your time to read this and redirect the Players here: http://battlelog.co/po...d=15264&page=3#p44719. The Web Installer that you suggested can fail from time to time, you can read why here in the middle: http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=12183#p30060. It's better to go for the offline installer; either way the Web Installer will have to download the 90MB of legacy files and libraries so we might as well skip its "checks" - cause they tend to fail - and go for the offline installer instead. wink

jostotest, here's what we're gonna do: for the time being, 1) forget the Revive Launcher exists, 2) forget you have a secondary account and focus on getting your main one to work okay? Right.

Now, with this in mind you need to stop downloading the game over and over from battlelog. tongue Get the old Full Free2Play release and keep its .zip file. When you need to reinstall the game, there you have your clean installer! I don't know about you but it takes me a whole day to get a 2,7 GB file. :'D Here you go, grab anyone you want - PM me for the torrent - http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=10055#p26768.

Then, once you're done downloading that, follow steps 1 through 5 here (outdated post, don't link it anymore guys): http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=13522#p32413. Additionally uninstall "bf2 battlelog" from your Control Panel (it's our Revive Launcher by Spencer), and then make sure these folders do not exist anymore on your System:
 • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\bf2battlelog
 • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\bf2battlelog

A good idea now is to reboot your Computer, run the Registry scan of CCleaner (always backing up when it prompts you to do so, for safety) multiple times and reboot again just to be uber cautious. smile

Instead of following step 6 in the post above, read the instructions for Windows XP users that you can find in the Full Free2Play link I gave you previously. Eventually, after you've completed this amazing journey through the reinstallation of Battlefield 2 Revive - and setup of your main account only - you may test the game again by double-clicking on this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe (no run as Admin, no compatibility flags ... Just make sure you're connected to the Internet - don't know why but for a small minority of users (like me) the game won't boot unless you're connected to the Internet).

If it does not work, perform the steps you've not done yet, here:
http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=22160#p82778. Yours sincerely,

Thanks to all,
S.H.A.R.K, I did a complete reinstall of windows 7 64 bit, before i started. and tried all the things that people have given me, without any antivirus installed,Just to make sure that was not the problem,

I am Typing/reading this on my other machine , this is the one i use for everything except games.

Windows XP home 32 bit
ATI Radeon HD 5700 series
AMD Phenom II x 2 550 processor 3.1GHz
3 gig ram

Thinking of booting this with a Windows 7 disc that I have, and trying it in this as well.I had the other machine to play bf3, but hated it.

update on the games machine, fired it up, and just for fun clicked on the revive play now, and it connected, but again the window is about half the size it should be.

It will let me into game, but I think when I come out and shut down the launcher, it wont start up again, so strange, don't understand why it doesnt fit the screen either

I have gone in and out of game about 5 times now and it works every time , , but I know if i shut down the launcher it will not open again.

Tried to add a screenshot pic , here using S.H.A.R.K.'s tutorial, but it fills the whole screen. cant post it as i it covers all the buttons

Man you have to stop relying on the Launcher to play the damn game. wink After all it's ... a Launcher! You can launch the game on your own, can't you!? I showed you how. How about the other machine? Did you try it there?

Did you follow my long post above to the letter? I recall making a premise which was about forgetting the Revive Launcher exists. smile How about it? We're here to help man; don't give up!

I have three discs,
the original game disc,
Patch 1.41
patch 1.5

These have all worked every time there has been a problem or operating system change.
I think revive has changed something, and it wont work.
The long post you have made I think is too difficult for me, i'm a bit long in the tooth, and not too good with all this pc stuff.
I looked on the freeplay 2 site, and couldnt find bf2, so im foxed from the start.
think my bf2 days are over.

Oh man, I made the post as exhaustive as I could so that you could follow it without any doubts or misunderstandings! smile Often times at battlelog we've seen that installing from the discs can lead to problems; and installing Revive BF2 just like I told you solves the issue.

To apply your CD-Key follow these instructions; if you're not too keen on computer science then have the Revive Launcher do it for you, with the button in the Settings: http://battlelog.co/post.php?id=16014.

"Also got battlelog boot strap has stopped working"
As I told you, once you configure the game and you get it to run once from the Revive Launcher, you may as well create a direct shortcut to the game and you can boot it from there, no Launcher necessary (for the moment).

The path for the shortcut is the following, you'll have to log in manually in-game, with your battlelog.co account: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2.

My Son (,i.t. Man) , hsa gone into the problems I have, tried everything, and the only way we can get into the game now is using his method,
This is what he found :-

when you have it working successfully the first time when using the Revive launcher, as soon as you have finished and quit the game and launcher, you then cannot run bf2 anymore (even if you try running the bf2.exe manually from the program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder).

No error message, just nothing happens.

The only way we can get round this is :

1) REBOOT (as some file or other is permanently locked - we know this due to the fact that we try and manually delete the entire program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder and it says 'access denied'

2) delete the entire contents of the program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder
3) delete the user profiles 001 and 002 (leaving Default folder and Global.con file alone)
4) Copy a backup of the entire bf2 folder back into program files(x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2 folder
5) Copy a backup of the 001 and 002 profiles back into the profile folder
6) Go into the Revice Launcher
7) 'Update Now' button
cool Re-apply the cd key
9) 'Play Now' button

then this works again.

To sum up , the launcher (or the BF2 application) works through the launcher once, then upon exiting the game and launcher the game is unplayable/won't run until the entire copy and paste process above is performed.

Can only presume that the leaving of the launcher is causing a file to remain that blocks re-running of bf2, hence the copy and paste exercise.

5tarLine means you should attempt to use this Launcher instead, after you perform a clean install of BF2: http://www.lost-soldie...=forum_topic&topic=62. It seems though, that you keep using the Revive Launcher when I explicitly suggest you not to use it for a period of time, to test if running the game directly everytime solves your issue. Laugh

The Launcher is not compulsory for the moment, so why do you keep using it if - from your description - it looks like that's the software which is causing you the issue? One of my first suggestions was to try to run the game directly, forgetting about the Revive Launcher entirely (for the moment).

Let us know if you find anything else, if you're willing to try to boot the game directly, and if you're going to try the Universal Launcher (and so how it goes). smiling Regards,

Ok gentlemen, I thanks you all for your help,
Update.
Re installed win 7 32 bit on old pc, Installed my paid for disc of bf2, and it did not work, decided to update graphics drivers and hey presto bf2 worked !.
installed revive again, and it worked, but got a message saying not to run as admin, and it would change it for me, so said ok, and the game worked online,
It said i needed to make the changes in bf2 exe, which i did, and everything works fine even the old bf2 icon on desk top. So, alls good now, whoopee,

It looks like the graphics cards update, solved everything.

12.12.2016, 23:21 - StarLine - Administrator - 2085 Posts
We probably should have started this by saying make sure absolutely everything is up to date. Laugh Although, considering you reinstalled Windows, perhaps you already had the latest graphics drivers before you did so?

Either way, I'm delighted that you have solved your problems and can play with no more troubles (hopefully). I was worried when you began talking about throwing in the towel but you have shown great patience and tenacity to fix this. When it comes to Tech, unless it's a hardware fault, everything is potentially fixable by yours truly (providing the software isn't totally locked down). This is what I always remember when I run into trouble but this doesn't happen very often for me these days... Normally I'm trying to stay patient fixing other people's tech troubles.

Only that the game would boot just once from the Revive Launcher, and then not anymore and you'd have to reinstall it?

Lol,Senior nerd you mean,
Game started first time ,( remember I was on my GAMES machine then) but died, maybe cos I was not setting it up right,so from then on I just kept trying. but of course, I never did update the graphics. So it was never going to work,
Then I went over to my DAILY machine, (xp), and fitted a spare Hard drive I had, and loaded a new win 7 disc that I had bought ready to install when xp got to be a problem
Of course I loaded up all the start up discs, and a 2year old graphics card download.,Therein lay the problem, didn't occur to me to update it again.
so after many attempts I took my GAMES machine to my sons house, and he got it working after a fashion, with a very involved start up procedure.,
and I have been playing on that since.
but After going back to my DAILY machine, i had read somewhere that a guiy had updated the graphics and it worked, so once again, I rebooted everything, updated graphice, loaded up bf2, and it worked first time, and still does, Its not the machine I want to use to play on, but I am loathe to play around with the GAMES machine , in case I ruin my sons work lol.
Anyway, I can play now, and my thanks to you , 5tar, and all who gave me advice,I appreciate it very much

You're welcome!! Well by the looks of it, it looks like you're the real nerd here! Fitting spare Hard Drivers and installing new O.S.?? That's something gamers don't usually do; apart from when they're desperate to play. Laugh Am I right?? tongue

The weird thing here is that your game actually loaded up just fine the first time! If your card could not accept it, it shouldn't have let you play ... Alas, that is BF2! Perhaps it has something to do with integrated cards vs third party cards, the initial shaders optimization and so forth ...

Your gaming machine is a laptop, right?
You don't have the link to that post where the guy suggested to update the Graphic Drivers anymore, do you? smiling

Yea , im not too good with the techy stuff , i am after all 76 years old, and come from a time of thermionic valves, before transistors even.In 1949, we had the first tv in our street.
Black and white, with a 9inch ( 228mm ) square screen. Our computer in those days was a thing called a slide rule.

MY PC's
Daily machine :-

Win 7 32 bit
AMD Phenom(tm)II x2 550 processor 3.10Ghz
4.00 GB usable memory
AMD Radeon HD5750 Graphics
Win 7 32 bit
AMD Phenom(tm)II x2 550 processor 3.10Ghz
4.00 GB usable memory

No, dont have lap top, just two desktops. plus a tab 2

Games machine is :-
WINDOWS 7 64 BIT HOME PREMIUM
Intel Core i5 2500k (3.3Ghz ) 6MB cache
Asus P8H61-M Motherboard
8 gig 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
ATI RADEON HD 6950 2GB PCI-E GRAPHICS CARD
SATA DUAL LAYER REWRITER
SAMSUNG 500 H/DRIVE
Bought it to play bf3, but hated the game,

This is the complicated way I have to log into bf2 , After going thrrough all this palaver. I have to open up revive, update , redo cd key , and then it logs me in, I have to go through all this every time I want to play bf2, or if it crashes.
Its the only way we managed to get it to work in Windows 7 64 bit, ( my games machine), my other machine Win 7 32 bit, It loaded fine in the normal way.
I have to delete stuff in file 1. copy and paste stuff from file 2 into file 1, then delete 001 and 002 in file 3, and copy and paste 001 and 002 from file 4 back into file 3.

It would be interesting to know where these folders actually point; cause from the screenie it looks like they're 4 different folders on your Desktop, but I could be wrong. I would die to tap into your PC and burn everything down BF2-related and build it back up but looking back at this whole thread of yours I'm afraid I would do worse. Laugh

All problems can be solved by creating yourself a good favourites list and using the old/original ULauncher, it's what i do and i also get the nice HD HUD and Menus etc. smiling
