Well we promised some treats in February and since you've all been so generous with Donations in recent months - I've completed some Hardware upgrades on our Main Server. smile

Firstly, I've increased our Memory so we can comfortably support the high number of BF2 Servers we are running without any worries or requiring excessive babysitting. Secondly, after careful consideration and changing my mind on some bad advice i received in the past, I've added a new Solid-State Drive and our BF2 Wake Island Server has now been running on there since the start of the month. I may move additional Servers onto the SSD aswell as they get busier. Finally, Wake has now been moved onto a new Dedicated IP Address (for Wake Only), you will no longer be able to access it with: BF2.LOST-SOLDIERS.ORG:16567 if you want to direct connect use: WAKE.LOST-SOLDIERS.ORG:16567.

These Upgrades should result in an even smoother gameplay experience on all of our Servers, not just Wake.

Our Secondary Server (running Windows Server OS) for various Services we offer has also been upgraded and moved onto a new Node with 4x more processing power.

Have fun & Happy Fraggin'!

smile

i am not familiar really with servers, but do you really think SSD would result smoother game play? (because its really expensive) ,and as far as i know bf2 is mostly resident in the RAM all the run time (of course after its first run), so increasing memory is more priority i guess ? no ?

and well done :-*

ssd is better. many people have newer computers and had then the problem with other servers (exmple infantry) that they was kicked after every round from the server because the computer load the map faster as the server/system

now we have the problem no longer

yes actually i am aware of that loading maps is mostly hard-disk-job , but i was only thinking of my favorite server , wake island, in that case there is no map loading just once it started,
i am personally dying of my traditional hard disk unhappy , just waiting for enough budget amused , so if anyone had any enough budget, let's go SSD .

If the Max Rounds i set in the configuration are reached before the Server is rebooted, then the Wake Island Level will indeed be re-loaded by the Server and all of the clients too.

The Max Rounds setting has a maximum of 99 if I recall correctly?
