Attention Soldiers!  Congratulations  SW03_Carbon - hereby promoted from Officer to Staff Officer!SW03_Carbon, or, to those of us who know him; Jan. Where to start? Let's begin by getting the usual statements out of the way - at this point we should probably template the following: this promotion, like pretty much all promotions here (and many in real life) is long overdue, for this I can only apologise, unfortunately things got pushed back even further than they already had been due to the impacts of Coronavirus and writing these takes more than a few minutes as we always try to do things properly. It actually reached the point where months ago, as much as I hate providing spoilers to Members beforehand, I told Jan he would be promoted reasonably soon because I felt guilty that he was still waiting. This promotion is no surprise to anyone though as it's more than deserved, so it seemed like the best thing to do. [toggle=continue reading...]Jan is not just a top Battlefield 2 player, he is also (and more importantly) a top human being. Highly intelligent, extremely dedicated, loyal and reliable with a good sense of humour. All qualities he has demonstrated in his time here as a Member. All qualities he has maintained impeccably whilst also managing to remain very much liked by all - this is highlighted by a number of affectionate nicknames some of us have dreamed up for Carbon, like two of my own: SW03_Carbonara & Carbomb. All of the qualities I mentioned add up to Jan being a calm and fair Admin that is willing to give troublemakers a chance to rectify their behaviour whilst also knowing when to draw the line and refuse to put up with any shit - a difficult balance to strike. When it comes to Battlefield 2, Jan is very strong in all aspects of the game with just a handful of players able to truly cause him much trouble. We saw this with Jan remaining #1 on our Lost-Soldiers Stats Leaderboard for a long time with an impressive SPM, only eventually losing the spot due to real life pressures reducing free time. Though despite this, at the time of writing, Jan still holds the #5 spot with a certain Vischk just beginning to appear in his rear-view mirror. Over the years, Carbon has dedicated a hell of a lot of hours to support Lost-Soldiers and it goes without saying that this is one Carbomb you definitely want detonating on your team, whether on the ground or in the air (Cargobomb) ;-) On a personal level, Jan is one of those rare gems of people you happen to meet online, someone I have never met face-to-face but consider a distant friend due to his openness and honesty and of course from playing together way back when I still was. We also started learning to Dogfight at the same time years ago and spent plenty of hours training together. As well as being my wingman in our victorious Wake match against PlayBF2, Jan also took it upon himself to organise our first Lost-Soldiers Dogfighting Tournament which together with the help of a few others he did a fantastic job of too. Did I mention that Jan dedicates his life to helping others? That's right, on top of everything he's a real life doctor. To begin with, in all the years I've known Marie and she has been a Lost-Soldiers Member, I can't recall hearing a bad word said about her. That's really no surprise though as anyone who has spent time talking to Marie or playing Battlefield with her will know it's an unbeatable combination of fun, laughs & karaoke  Not wanting to repeat myself word for word across two promotions aside, there is again a very clear reason why Marie has been awarded with the promotion to Staff Officer, because she is similarly a great person, as well as being; smart, caring, dependable and trustworthy.[toggle=continue reading...]Fierce. This is the word I would use to describe Marie on the battlefield. You'd be wise not to underestimate Marie or you will likely meet your end, back down, face up in the air with a sprite's crotch pulsating rhythmically on your face as you hear whispers of Twinings or Lipton in the wind. Not only is Marie highly competent on the ground but she has added more strings to her bow in recent times and is rather deadly gunning in helicopters too. What I respect about Marie and qualities that makes her a good admin are how she always remains calm and balanced - even when faced with particularly difficult situations that would likely lead many people to quit if they were in her shoes. Marie doesn't quit, doesn't give up and puts differences aside showing tremendous loyalty, maturity and wisdom beyond her years. Finally, as a nurse, Marie is another who has dedicated herself professionally to caring for and helping others. Oh and on top of being "Pizza Queen" she should also be promoted honored ambassador of The Teabagging Society if she isn't already; our dear John would be very proud of both of your promotions. :') P.S. the memories of the basement still haunt meCongratulations Sjefen_Magnus - hereby promoted from Ranger to Officer!Whilst I have sadly not had the pleasure of really getting to know Magnus because of real life taking me away from the Community and game for so long I can honestly say he has still managed to make a fantastic impression in a small number of interactions I've shared with him and from everything I've witnessed and heard - that's why I have absolutely no concerns or doubts about this promotion because Magnus is clearly a really genuine, nice person, who brings a positive vibe wherever he goes and has been doing a fantastic job of supporting our Dragon Valley server for an extended period of time. In addition Magnus has been incredibly generous and has already become a Platinum Donator! Out of respect and decency I will simply say keep up the great work, not waffle on and instead hand over to someone who knows him better.
